Description
Three songs for soprano and piano which borrow words which were originally set by John Dowland. The music also 'borrows' from imaginary earlier times, but isn't intended to refer to specific composers or periods of musical history. The third song 'Come ye Heavy States of Night' requires an additional voice or instrument: clarinet and alto flute have both worked effectively in this role.
